Berkshire Nurses and Relief in Sickness Trust is a long-established charity that is able to provide financial assistance in the form of grants to applicants who are under the care of the medical profession due to sickness or disability, either physical or mental. What Our Clients are Saying

Over the last 20 years, the support of Berkshire Nurses and Relief in Sickness Trust has helped Thames Hospice to provide medical, practical, and emotional support for thousands of local families during their most challenging times. We are especially grateful for the Trust’s most recent grant in support of our Children and Family Service which supports children and young people to rebuild their lives after losing a parent. The service is entirely funded by voluntary donations and ensures that bereaved children can be resilient despite the pain and trauma of losing their mum or dad so early in life. Thank you for helping to make a crucial difference in their young lives.

Launchpad is proud to have received financial support from Berkshire Nurses for six clients during the 2024/25 financial year. Of these, five were individuals who had successfully moved on from Launchpad’s accommodation into independent living within the community. When clients arrive at Launchpad, they often do so with very few possessions. As they transition into their own homes, they face significant challenges in accessing essential household items such as fridge-freezers, cookers, and washing machines. For those on the basic rate of Universal Credit, saving for these large purchases is nearly impossible. Thanks to the generosity of Berkshire Nurses, Launchpad has been able to support clients most in need with these vital items - helping them to settle into their new homes with dignity and stability. Launchpad deeply values the ongoing support from Berkshire Nurses. Their generosity helps some of the most vulnerable members of our community take meaningful steps toward independence and a better future.

Parents And Children Together (PACT) www.pactcharity.org/bb4k aims to support vulnerable children and adults to heal from trauma so they can build a bright and positive future for themselves. They do this through adoption support services, a women’s centre, and domestic abuse and trauma recovery programmes such as Bounce Back 4 Kids (BB4K). BB4K is an innovative recovery programme developed by PACT that uses therapeutic techniques to concurrently support children and their non abusive parents who have experienced or witnessed domestic abuse.PACT are delighted to receive a grant from BNRST for £9,240 that has funded the cost of the play therapy work for 2025/26, a vital part of the BB4K programme that aims to achieve outcomes including strengthened bond between parent and child, improved child behaviour, and improved parental self-efficacy; ultimately aiming to break the cycle of domestic abuse.

On behalf of the Housing Support Team at Reading Borough Council, I want to express our deepest gratitude to the Berkshire Nurses and Relief in Sickness Trust (BNRST). In our roles, we assist some of Reading's most vulnerable tenants with a wide range of complex needs, including mental health support, benefits assistance, and even providing essentials like white goods. Without the unwavering support and generosity of the Trust, our team of four simply would not be able to do our jobs effectively. The amount of care and professionalism the team at the Trust shows when dealing with highly sensitive information is truly remarkable. They are a crucial partner in our work, and their consistent efforts make a genuine difference in the lives of our tenants. We have been lucky enough to receive support from the Berkshire Nurses & Relief in Sickness Trust since 2023. Their support is invaluable to us – funding projects which directly help local young people struggling with their mental health. The Trust are so responsive, with an easy application process and quick decision, making it easy for busy and stretched organisations to get vital funding support for their work. We are so grateful to the Trustees, and everyone at the Trust, for their ongoing support and the difference they help to make to local young people.
